Chances are that if you are reading this it’s Christmas time. The lights are hung all around. Presents are wrapped. Christmas movies have been playing for a few weeks now. Christmas music seems to be on every other radio channel. But nothing about this Christmas feels right this year to ya. Maybe you have lost someone this year, moved far away from everything you know, or are just stuck in a rut. Below are a few ways to change it up and enjoy your Christmas.

How To Really Make It Feel Like Christmas: Remember the reason for the season
So the world is full of elf on the shelf, Christmas parties, and Santa. While those may work for some focusing on all that we forget the Jesus was born. He was born for us. While none of those things are bad they do give us false hope. Once Christmas is over the elf goes away, Santa is gone, and parties are no more. Jesus he is with us yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He is who we can call on in the middle of the night when no one else is awake. He is who will guide us. I wonder if more people had knowledge of this we would have less hustle-bustle and stress this season.

Pray
Now, this has to start being the go-to thing we do especially during Christmas. Happy? Pray. Sad? Pray. Frustrated? Pray. Scared? Pray. Not sure what this Christmas will look like? Pray. Not sure how to feel about anything? Pray. You see the moment we ask God to cover us in comfort he goes to work in our favor. No, it doesn’t always end how we prayed but it ends how he planned it to.

Start Something New
Of course, this is easier said than done. Time, resources, and energy will make this look different for everyone during the season. Baking something even if just to give to your neighbors. Volunteering at a soup kitchen. Some of the coolest people you will ever meet are there I can promise you that. Cuddling up on the couch at night and watching a different movie. Catching up on your days over a cup of hot cocoa. Going and look at lights in different areas around you every night. Sings songs together. Reading a chapter of Luke once a day until Christmas Eve. Just sitting down and being still with your bible in hand.
To sum this all up I know this Christmas isn’t how you pictured it. For one reason or another, it just doesn’t feel like it used to. You can choose to dwell on that. But lady Jesus has so much more for sure. He is the reason for the season. The more we can wrap our hearts and minds on that the more every day will feel like Christmas not just during the December month.
